The workshop will model the use of activities and thinking routines aimed at creating a classroom culture where students are engaged participants and contributors in the process of literary interpretation and analysis

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Articulate what goes into producing an interpretation of a text.
- Articulate the importance of ensuring interpretation is a student led, rather than teacher focused activity in the literature classroom.
- Design and use routines that reinforce the value of multiple perspectives in a community of readers, and b. recognize and value each reader’s contribution.
- Reflect on ways to create a classroom culture where students are capable of independent exploration of literary texts in their contexts.
