ART in English language learning – using art to generate language in the Primary Classroom

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Art opens up the world in a myriad of ways to the young (and older!) viewer. Come along and experience first-hand how we can use the visual image to explore the exciting world of English beyond our classroom walls. Art not only stimulates young learners to generate language but also provides a means for teachers to examine and contextualize different points of view and cultures and develop our inter-cultural awareness.
This is a practical hands-on workshop in which participants will observe and be exposed to some ideas which start to explore the plethora of ways in which art can be used to stimulate language production in Primary classrooms.

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Observe, experience and adapt practical ideas and examples from the session
- Better identify art for use in class and how we can exploit cross curricula themes
- Better understand some of the theory which underpins using art for learning a language
