Play is Learning: understanding its importance in the Early Years classroom

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Can children really learn if they are simultaneously having fun? The answer, quite simply, is yes.

Thanks to recent studies we now know more than ever before about optimal learning conditions for young children, and play forms a necessary part of this. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the advantages of incorporating play into the classroom, how to explain its benefits to parents, as well as how to responsibly manage the learning environment.

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand the different types of ‘play’ available to teachers
- Explain how it supports childhood learning and development
- Plan lessons that incorporate ‘play’ in a safe and productive way
